Richard G. Vedder is a Professor of Information Technology at the University of North Texas. He received his B.A. degree from the University of California, San Diego, and his M.A., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Arizona. Dr. Vedder joined the ITDS Department in 1984, and since then has taught a wide variety of courses on topics such as application development for mobile devices, business assessment of emerging technologies, multimedia, and expert systems. He has also served his department administratively as Vice Chair and Interim Chair. Dr. Vedder’s chief area of research interest is emerging information technologies, as applied to solving business problems. He has published previously in Communications of the ACM, Decision Sciences, and IEEE Transactions on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics, as well as in other journals. He serves on the Editorial Advisory Board for the journal Expert Systems with Applications. Dr. Vedder is a member of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), and the American Academy for the Advancement of Science, among other organizations.
